What to do when your new plant arrives

ðŸŒą Your New Plant Has Arrived!

Whether your plant was delivered to your door or you picked it up locally, it's normal for a plant to need a little time to adjust to its new surroundings.

Here's how to give your new plant the best start.

ðŸ“Ķ 1. Unpack Your Plant

Carefully remove your plant from its packaging and give it a little room to breathe.

If your plant was shipped, don't worry if you notice a few bent, curled, or slightly droopy leaves. Plants can experience some stress while traveling and often perk back up once they're settled.

☀ïļ 2. Find the Right Spot

Place your plant in an area with the appropriate amount of light for its variety.

💧 3. Check the Soil Before Watering

Don't automatically water your plant just because it arrived.

Check the soil first. If it is still moist, allow it to dry to the appropriate level for your plant before watering.

If the soil is dry and your plant needs water, give it a thorough drink and allow excess water to drain.

ðŸŠī 4. Give It Time to Adjust

Moving to a new home can be a big change for a plant!

You may notice some temporary changes such as:

  • A little drooping
  • Leaves curling slightly
  • A leaf or two turning yellow
  • Minor leaf drop

These can happen as your plant adjusts to its new environment.

Give it consistent care, the right light, and a little patience.

ðŸĄ 5. Don't Repot Right Away

Unless your plant needs immediate attention, there's usually no need to repot it as soon as you bring it home.

Let your plant settle in first. Once it's comfortable in its new environment, you can decide whether it's time for a new pot.
